24.08.21 - 30.09.21

The last month has gone by quite fast. Summer isn´t over yet for me, but locals are already changing their shorts for jeans and crop tops for jackets. It looks funny and feels funny because at last it starts to look like summer for me. Our Estonian summer 😊

25.08.21: Àlex took me golfing with his childhood friend🏌 We went to ROC 3 Pitch and Putt golf course. I have tried golfing before maybe once or twice so I wasn´t very eager to play. I decided to help out with the scores and just enjoy the weather and the views. 18 holes went by very quickly and I didn´t even notice when it was done and Àlex had won 🙌

A beautiful palm tree at the golf course 😍

26.08.21: My friend from Germany had her birthday in a few days so I wanted to send her something. I found some local cookies, chocolate and travel size fuet from the store and decided to send that. I forgot to look for a card in the supermarket, but postal offices usually have all kinds of cards and envelopes so I wasn´t too upset. But for my surprise Spanish post offices don´t seem to have them 😳😬 I felt really bad that I had to send the package off without a card and birthday wishes so I created a DIY card and sent the package out. At least now I know to get a card from a store or some other place.

27.08.21: I got to play table tennis 😆💪🏓🏓 It had been so long when I had the chance to play on an actual table, but somehow the net was missing 😩 So we had to improvise, but it was still fun. After that Àlex and I  went to gym. When leaving we ran into table tennis men´s double Olympic champion and Spanish champion who both play at the club quite frequently 😁 Àlex got their contact and they let us know when they´re usually practicing.

29.08.21: I had my second padel match. Àlex and I met up at the club with his cousin who he hadn´t seen in quite some time because she used to live in the states. I hadn´t seen the cousin before, but Àlex told me great things about her. Some guy from the club joined us and we played for an hour and 15 minutes. I didn´t do as great as I hoped, but it was my first or second week playing. After the match we spent some time at the cafeteria and I got to know Àlex´s cousin. She´s really nice and sweet and I had a blast talking with her. Also it was refreshing to speak in English for a change 😅

31.08.21: I signed up for a language school to improve my Spanish 😁 There´s gonna be a test and then I´d start the classes if they accept me.

01.09.21:  Àlex and I signed up for a padel class for beginners. It was mainly for me, so I could learn the basics and get some kind of idea how to move and hold the racket. Class was very intense since we were the only people that day. Usually there´s like 6-8 of us, but the "private lesson" was very useful and I learned a lot 👍 It was also very tiring, because we played table tennis right before for like 30-40 minutes, so I was absolutely exhausted after both activities.

03.09.21: There was supposed to be another padel class, but it got canceled because of rain. This time I went with Àlex´s cousin. She lives quite far away so we didn´t let the cancellation bother us and just found a court to train by ourselves 💪👍 We did fine, but had to give up the court after half an hour since somebody had booked it. We met up with  Àlex and had dinner back at the house.

04.09.21: I had dinner with Àlex and his friends from school. We took a train to Molins de Rei and after that two guys picked us up from the station. We went to this storage room/garage which had been remodeled to a man cave with table tennis, pool table and video games. Everyone had prepared something at home for us to eat together 😋 I made my favourite potato salad and Àlex baked a cheesecake 😻 I got to try very interesting dishes-there were pizza, quiche, cheese rolls and other stuff. My favourite was actually potatoes with blue cheese even though I usually don´t like cheese at all.. especially blue cheese. Also it turned out to be one of the strongest blue cheese in Spain😄🙀 There was something about the taste that just went with the potatoes so well and made it enjoyable 😋

After dinner I got to play table tennis, but I didn´t do very well😞 Later I noticed that the player on the left usually won, but mostly because the table wasn´t straight. Sides curved a bit outward, but more on the right side. Later we played the bus driver, but a different version from what I used to play at college. It was somewhat more interesting and got players drunk faster. The night was a blast overall and I was glad to have met these friends of Àlex 😊

05.09.21: Next day wasn´t as fun as the night before. I was really tired and Àlex had a slight hangover 😬 We were supposed to go visit Àlex´s brother and his nephews, but couldn´t find the the strength to get out of bed. I checked out some other universities beside the one that I´m planning to go to. I really like the Pompeu Fabra, but a year there costs 18 000€ while my first idea - University of Barcelona - costs 1600€. There´s an Erasmus student loan for 12 000€ to help pay the Pompeu, but still.. 6000€ on my own and the rest later.. no thank you 😂

06.09.21: Àlex had a padel match at the club so I drove us to Vallparc after noon. I spent 45 minutes by the pool till they had to close for a clean up, and went downstairs to the cafeteria to check on Àlex´s match. He still had some time to play so I had to wait for the match to finish. I think he was doing great, but don´t know for sure since the court is on a lower level and I couldn´t see much of it.

In the evening we met up with Àlex´s cousin and went to the cinema to see the new Marvel movie 😆😁 LOVED IT!! The plot was amazing and the actors.. just great 😍😍 Won´t be sharing any details tho, don´t want to ruin it, if someone hasn´t seen it still.

09.09.21: It was finally time to take the language test to determine my Spanish level 😱😁💪 The school´s in Vall d´Hebron which is only two metro stops from the house. Test took two-three hours including the wait for the scores. The test was divided into three parts: grammar, listening and writing. The grammar part was quite difficult for me since I´ve learned most of my Spanish by talking with Àlex and other native speakers. Besides that I still had a fever from the day before, so I felt like dying during the first 15 minutes 😬 Regardless all that I managed to get B1, which is incredible considering the amount of time I´ve been speaking/studying Spanish 🙌😎

After the test I rushed back home to get some lunch with Àlex. He had his first day working since our return to Barcelona, so I wanted to make sure he arrives on time 😇

11.09.21: In the morning I had padel with Àlex, his cousin and his brother´s girlfriend. We spent an hour and half playing and went to the pool after that 😁 It was one of the last days when pool was open so had to make the best of it.

12.09.21: Àlex has been working for a few days, and is very happy with his work, but he gets back home after midnight when I´m sleeping already 😞 It´s great that he has something to do and enjoys it, also he gets to sleep in late 👍 so we can catch up on our Netflix shows in the morning or during dinner time when he has a break.

This was one of those days when Àlex left the house before 16 and got back before 1AM. So I had the whole evening to binge Lucifer!!!! 😆😍😎😆 I´d been dying to see that since the announcement of the  6th season. And it didn´t disappoint 😁 Just wish the would be more..

15.09.21: I had another padel class, but I didn´t feel too happy about it 😕 I´ve been playing for a month or so and rest of the class had started year or two before me. We were playing outside, practising serves and trying different exercises. In the end we played for points, but I lost all games but one. Maybe I was tired from the table tennis just before the class.. I finally had the opportunity to play with the champions!!! 😆😆😆 It was AWESOMEEE! 🎉🎉 At first Àlex and I were just standing on the side and watching, but then the Spanish champion gave me his racket and told me to play with his opponent. I was so scared  at first and failed some hits, but when I got comfortable finally...I´ve literally never played that well!! And the racket..it was so fast and so good, you can´t even imagine 😁😍 It´s illegal to play with this one at real competitions, but it didn´t matter in that moment. After some time I let Àlex try too and in the end we played pairs. I already learned a lot from the Olympic champion and had sooo much fun 👍🙈😻

18.09.21: I had another padel game in the morning with Àlex´s cousin, his brother´s girlfriend and another girl from the club. The game was rather intense and bit frustrating. I still don´t know how to move on the court and which ball to run after so I feel useless most of the time 😒 I was playing with Àlex´s cousin at first and then with the girl from the club. I know we lost the first match, but not sure about the second one. I wasn´t happy with neither so I just wanted it to be done already. Àlex was couching me during the game, which helped actually, but I still felt lost half of the time 😬 After the match I was eager to go home, but Àlex and his brother, who showed up during the second match, wanted to play too. There was an open court outside, so we played another hour and 15 minutes. This time I played with Àlex  and we won, but only thanks to him. He plays really well and knows how to move and how the ball moves.

19.09.21: It´s been 3 months already since our arrival.. Time flies by so fast. I was feeling pretty bored last few days so I started learning photoshop on my own. Should make some use of all the free time I have till I have it. It´s been going great, I´ve learned a lot, but there´s so so so much that I still don´t know and have yet to learn.

Àlex and I started watching the 5th season of La casa de papel, but I didn´t like it as much as the previous seasons. It´s too bloody and most of the episode consisted of one side shooting the other. Watching it makes me a bit anxious already, but this time everything felt too much.

21.09.21: I had another visitor!! 😍😊 This time I got to meet up with a friend from Poland, who came to Barcelona for a week. She and I met in 2019 when I had my internship in Pineda de Mar. We had lunch at Le Romane, which I didn´t like too much. I ordered pasta carbonara - it looked delicious, but was over salted and had some kind of a taste which I wasn´t very fond of. After that we walked around the city. We visited the Disney store and Harry Potter store 😁😆 The last one had gone through a makeover. It looked so different and much bigger than before, but still as amazing. I wanted to buy everything, but the products were rather pricy 💰 They had objects from the real movie sets and goods for the fans. I wanted to buy the chocolate frogs, but they were 7€ a piece.. Would´ve been cool, but somewhat costly for a piece of chocolate and a wizard´s card 😅

At the Harry Potter store

After the Harry Potter store we walked to La Rambla and bought some waffles at La Polleria. They sell dick shaped waffles like the name says. You can also get a vagina waffle or even a cake with both of them. They have different sauces from caramel to forest fruits and for an extra 1€ you can get a topping like marshmallows, chocolate sprinkles or others. It´s a popular place for tourists and serves great waffles 👍

In the evening Àlex had another padel game, but it was so late that the buses weren´t driving anymore so I had to give him a lift to the club 🚗 It was easier for me to stay there till he finished so I sat and watched the game. It wasn´t very interesting and I was a bit tired already so I just scrolled my Instagram and listened to some music 🎶

It was pretty dark outside when we arrived, but even darker when we started to go back home 🌃 After the first curve down from the club I saw big shiny eyes in front of me.. It was a wild boar, who´d decided to go through all the trash cans by the road. There was some trash one the highway and some right beside it. He´d made quite a mess 🐗 I made sure there weren´t any other boars on the road and started driving again. Then after a roundabout I drove down a little street and in the end of it I saw a whole family of boars!! 😱🐗 There were like 6-7 of them, all walking towards the centre. Some were on the playground next to the street and others walking around like they were supposed to be there 😂 I thought this had to be it and they won´t be anywhere further, but oh boy was I wrong. 2-3 streets further there was a mama boar with its baby right on the main street! They were sniffing on the ground and making a mess, but remained calm even when we stopped right beside them. Àlex told me that at nighttime some boars walk down till Placa Catalunya in search of food. Might be quite scary to see them walking towards you 😳😳

27.09.21: My Spanish classes started!! 📚 I´d been waiting for quite some time for it. I was so happy to be accepted and eager to start 😁 We have classes from Monday to Thursday, 2.5 hours at a time. The group is very fun so far and everyone seems friendly. We get to talk a lot and practice every necessary part for the upcoming exam in January. It feels great to be with people who understand me on a different level and know how I feel.

That´s it for now. Next post will be uploaded in the end of October or in the beginning of November💪
Hasta la próxima!😊
